McCain, on how to be a double-dealing shitheel in the same speech. When asked about Don't Ask, Don't Tell and his support for it:
“Discrimination in any form is unacceptable in America today.”“I understand the controversy that continues to swirl around this issue. That debate needs to be continued.”
When asked about gay marriage:
Student: “Do you support civil unions or gay marriage?”McCain: “I do not. I think that they impinge on the status and the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman.”
Student: “So you believe in taking away someone’s rights because you believe it’s wrong?”
McCain: “I wouldn’t put that interpretation on my position, but I understand yours.”
Later on, same student:
McCain: “You have one more? Go ahead you’re doing good."Student: “I came here looking to see a leader. I don’t.”
More news on Bush's idiocy and the GOP fools who want to follow in his dirty footsteps.
Bush runs off to Iraq for a photo op, promising the troops help and vaguely teasing them with the notion of sending some of them home.
Which, of course, is utter BS on his part. He's got a mere 14 percent "success" rating in Congress given that the Dems are tired of his lies and, frankly, so are many in his party. Meanwhile, the same Congress is appropriating funds to supply and support the troops when Bush's Pentagon won't. Meanwhile, Bush blames the same Congress for not funding his war. Who's kidding who here?
And, well, he's out of troops to send on his misadventures anyway. And, oh yes, despite the pep talks from Washington, morale is slipping.
In the presidential race, Sam Brownback finds that his anti-gay, anti-rights campaign earns him boos even in a crowd of Republicans in a FAUXNews-sponsored debate. See? Not all Republicans are hate-spitting bigots. Just the ones that run for office.
That said, I'm not really sure we should be THAT worried about the evil spector of a President Brownback, as evidenced here:
Mitt Romney was first in line to thrown Senator Larry Craig under the bus. Look, I almost feel bad for Craig. I mean, obviously he's got some internal issues to deal with and having his party treat him like a leper isn't going to help him do that. That said, if he wasn't such a bigoted asshat I could probably drum up some actual empathy. Now, I just see him as a pathetic poster child of the GOP's hate machine. Looking at how they treat their own, you see how narrow-minded, small, and hateful they really are.
Remember that when it is time to vote.
