You have to tighten the belt in a recession anyway....

So, I've been putting a little thought into my civil disobedience lately.

Basically, I've always made some occasional background research into who funds crap like Limbaugh's show, etc. It doesn't seem to cost me anything and it is in a similar vein to the now-defunct-and-maybe-coming-back BuyBlue. Basically, it is your money, try not to give it to asshats.

So, I'm extending this concept to Clintonites. Anyone who treats those who back Obama as Judases, irrelevant, and unimportant - hey, their words, not mine - are coming from the same mold as a Bush or Cheney calling us out as traitors for not backing their war on brown people.

My first test run of this was not buying Paul Krugman's latest book. Pretty sure I won't even check it out from the library. I've also been looking at my existing copies of books by Bill Clinton and Paul Begala/James Carville. I know it isn't a cost-saving move, but I'm wondering about just how much it would cost to send those books back to the authors as a symbol of not wanting their tainted names in my home.

Other things are easier to do. I haven't watched Ugly Betty but America Ferrera has made it a lock I won't. Same for Tina Fey and SNL. And I can easily avoid the chance 30 Rock viewings since I can't say I was enjoying it much anyway.

Anyone have some great ideas on how to avoid putting money in the pockets of Clintonites? Let me know.

In the meantime, give a thought towards spending a bit of coin towards those who ARE backing Obama. Neither Chris Dodd nor Bill Richardson have asked for a cabinet post or a dime from Barack Obama and his supporters. That doesn't mean that throwing $5 or $10 to help these guys pay off their debts isn't a real form of thank you for their support.

Here is where you can donate to Dodd and to Richardson.

Just give it a thought, and definitely pass along your ideas, alright?
