Experience: By the Numbers

So, let's do the math here. The MkKKain campaign keeps talking about how little experience Obama has, and how he hasn't been vetted by the American people.

Well, considering that around 100 million people voted in both of the last two elections, let's take a look at some primary numbers. Obama got about 18 million votes in the primaries against at least 8, eventually 2, and finally one other challenger. So, definitely not a bad showing.

McCain? Just over 8 million.

In 2004, McCain won his Senate seat with a 77% showing, garnering just over 1.5 million votes.

Obama? He won his Senate election with around 70% of the vote. Oh, and over 3.5 million votes.

Here's the trend. Obama has had to appeal to more types, classes, and races of people and gets a lot of them on his side. McCain has to appeal to racist whites and some Latinos, and does quite well in his small market.

Now how about Palin? She swears she's ready for the big time. The only problem is, how do we know? She won her gubernatorial race with 48% and just under 115,000 votes. That folks, is not a whole lot of people when you look at a whole state.

By contrast, in just a STATE senate race, Obama, in 1996, 1998, and 2002, got the votes of anywhere from 46-48,000 folks in the 13th District. Almost half of Palin's totals in a fraction of a state.

None of this means a damn thing as far as the general election for president is concerned.

EXCEPT that Obama has had to do more to convince more people of his worth and small time pieces of shit like MkKKain and Palin had best shut up when they don't know what they are talking about.
