However Great His Talent, Polanski Is Still Guilty : NPR

Ya know, I've known some bad people in my life. Not necessarily evil, but not your traditional amount of good and moral either. I'm glad to see this article at the NPR site.

In a nutshell:

At the end of the day, would we be OK with our 13-year-old daughter being drugged and raped by a 44-year-old? And are we OK with him then skipping town?

The answer to these questions would be no-brainers if the 44-year-old involved were not a world-renowned, brilliant director. So applaud his work and award him an Oscar. But don't say he's a victim who deserves to be excused.

And that's the long and short of it. I've know gang members, folks who have done time for drug dealing, gang activity, even attempted murder in a couple cases. But, despite their crimes, they weren't evil.

Evil? Evil in at least one form is some jackass who thinks it's okay to sleep with a thirteen year old girl. No, not just think it: do it.

For those sick bastards who somehow justify this kind of behavior, answer me this: are you also cool with FLDS members having secret marriages to teenage girls? Because I'd say most folks, especially mainstream LDS members that I know, think those folks are sick.

It's pedophilia. It's child abuse. It's a crime, and the bastard needed to do time for it decades ago. The fact that people still find some reason to think he doesn't makes me sick.
