The Vizzini Doctrine

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates warns against the future use of our military might in land wars in other parts of the world.

Now, he's done a great job in his role. How Bush picked someone competent for a government job just amazes me, but I guess he had to after Rumsfeld.

I know he's being serious here and wants to save American lives and treasure, but I just get giggly thinking about how much this sounds like The Princess Bride:

"You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is 'never get involved in a land war in Asia' - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha... " - Vizzini
