The same Arlington school district who thought it would be too dangerous for students to watch President Obama has no issue throwing the same kids on a bus in the middle of the day to go hang out with George Bush and a bunch of cheerleaders.

More on the Monforto family. Good stuff coming their way for their 15 minutes of good-hearted fun and fame.
Plus, they got an autographed ball out of the deal. Nice to see decent folks getting a taste of the limelight for a spell.

The more we all collectively talk about it, the more I realize how many films Swayze did and what a variety of roles he had.
I know all the talking heads focus on Dirty Dancing or Ghost, but he really covered a lot of different genres. And, you know, I really can’t remember a time anyone ever spoke ill of the guy. That’s not a bad legacy to leave.
Pretty cool story on Neil Patrick Harris and on how he’s managed to be true to himself and build up a nice post-Doogie career.
I know I’m down on organized religion a lot of late – and I have my reasons. That said, I found this story on how the three major faiths in the US are addressing the problems of protecting their congregations while still adhering to their religious traditions.
I had heard some mention of this fleet in some other articles awhile back, but someone actually went out and found the ghost fleet.
Kinda creepy and bizarre. It also puts into focus how hard hit some folks have been by the recession in ways we haven’t seen.
Watching Ichiro Suzuki has been a real joy. He’s made at least 200 hits in each of his nine American Major League seasons, and that’s pretty damn impressive.
But what is also cool is the response this got him back home in Japan, particularly in high praise from THE all-time home run hitter, Sadaharu Oh.

You know the economy is still bad when The Wall Street Journal is printing positive stories related to cities trying to deal with their homeless populations.
