Why GOP Leader Opposes Hate Crimes Protections for Gays – Political Hotsheet – CBS News

John Boehner is a tool.

I know, you were already aware of that, but this is insidious bullshit coming from an already slimy creep.

He’s against the recent expansion of hate crimes to cover sexual orientation, but not just for the knee-jerk gay bashing that Republicans are famous for.

No, his problem is, partly, that hate crimes law somehow constitutes some kind of Minority Report-style “thought police” that will incarcerate people for just imagining crimes against women, minorities, gays, and Muslims.

I could see his point. If this were true, the state governments of Texas, hell, the whole South, Plains, and Alaska would grind to a standstill.

But his real objection is that some rabid, angry Hate Jesus-loving pastor could be arrested for preaching things such as, oh, I dunno, sermons such as “Why I Hate Barack Obama” which inspire people to pack assault weapons to political protests.

Look, assholes, Timothy McVeigh listened to crap like this. So do all those militias seeing a comeback these days. Or the “Minutemen” vigilantes.

Put a stop to it and actually try to help fix the problem. Because, honestly, if you HAVE to count on these people to get elected, maybe you shouldn’t be involved in politics. Ya know?

Dylan Ratigan, Michael Moore Slam Wall St. Over Latest Round Of Bonuses

You know, maybe I’m wrong about Dylan Ratigan. When they first gave him a show on MSNBC I just figured he’d be extra BS time for Scarborough-style stupidity. But I’ve been off the mark on that of late.

Here he is railing against exorbitant Wall Street bonuses with Michael Moore as the banks owe us billions and millions remain out of work.

And here he is the other day calling out the head of the Chambers of Commerce for “talking nonsense”.

He also had an informative HuffPo piece on the health insurance industry last week.

Speaking of earlier, Michael Moore had an equally thoughtful article on health care reform bills.

So, hopefully, another progressive-minded voice in the wilderness, at least on a few subjects.

Jon Stewart Takes On 30 Republicans Who Voted Against Franken Rape Amendment (VIDEO)

“I guess it’s an efficiency thing. You don’t want to waste tax-payer money giving it to someone who advises fake prostitutes how to commit imaginary crimes, you want to give it to Halliburton because they’re committing real gang rape.”

– John Stewart on the difference between ACORN and Halliburton

American troops in Afghanistan losing heart, say army chaplains – Times Online

Not the best news to come out of that campaign, but unfortunately probably really close to home.

From those servicemen I know who have served in Afghanistan a similar tale rings true. Face it, the locals have been wrapped up in war for 30 years now. They probably don’t even give a damn who is occupying them anymore, much less want to lend a hand.

It is bound to affect those serving in the campaigns there. And to think there would be a plus side to serving in Iraq.
