CNN Political Ticker:Reid’s wife and daughter in car accident

I hope Harry Reid’s wife and daughter all the best after their bad car accident. I was going to use this story and a Politico one to point out how cruel and evil conservative commenters are.

Our local Vegas papers turned off the comments almost immediately. CNN and Politico neutered and filtered their comments, taking out not just the truly odious ones but even the marginally poor taste ones.

I’d argue we need those comments to stay intact. We need to know how dirty some Republicans can get. How evil, how contrary to the myth of “compassionate conservatism”. How truly anti-family they are.

The more we let the bastards off the hook, the worse they get. Reference any of the Cheney family for an example of this.

Op-Ed Columnist – Health Reform Myths – NYTimes.com

“The only part of health care in which there isn’t already a lot of federal intervention is the market in which individuals who can’t get employment-based coverage buy their own insurance. And that market, in case you hadn’t noticed, is a disaster — no coverage for people with pre-existing medical conditions, coverage dropped when you get sick, and huge premium increases in the middle of an economic crisis. It’s this sector, plus the plight of Americans with no insurance at all, that reform aims to fix. What’s wrong with that?”

Krugman keeps talking sense about health care reform. None of this helps when Republicans keep making shit up and believing outright lies, but oh well.

Texas BOE Removes Jefferson From History Standard : Dispatches from the Culture Wars

Conservatives hate Thomas Jefferson. In Texas, they are removing his name from a list of the great minds that formed the basis of our nation.

In short, Republicans hate the Declaration of Independence.

More on their crazy rewriting of history.

Seriously, let these folks be as dumb as they want to be. We hate to stop them from poisoning our children’s minds, however.
