‘Vitriol’ Cited As Possible Factor In Arizona Tragedy : NPR

For once, amazingly, a NPR article that doesn’t suck up to the right wing.

This one discusses how the Tucson shooter may have been influenced by anti-government hate speech in the media.

Go figure.

Their followup article is even better at detailing the current climate and those who stoked it’s fires.

Paul Krugman says a lot of what I’ve been thinking in this article. I, too, am not surprised this happened. Saddened? Disappointed? Yes. But something like this was going to happen eventually, especially with cheerleaders like Palin egging people on.

Rep. James Clyburn puts it more pointedly. “The fact of the matter is, we just came out of an election. We saw a candidate for the United States Senate saying ‘if you can’t get what you want at the ballot box, let’s seek second amendment remedies.’ What does that mean? That is a very vitriolic statement.”

Rep. Giffords herself had some concerns over Palin “targeting” her.

Manufacturing false equivalencies in the wake of the Giffords assassination attempt

Once more, conservatives are screeching that everyone does what they do.

No, it really isn’t like that.

Olbermann can be a blow hard, but he’s no O’Reilly. And there is no radio or TV alternative to Beckkk or Lush Rimjob. There just isn’t.

Pointing out Palin’s hitlist is like something posted on Daily Kos is also a distraction. And a lie.

I’ll let Kos himself explain.

If you are going to stack a bunch of logs, pour gas on them, and set matches next to the pyre, don’t be surprised when someone lights it. And don’t be surprised when someone says you set the conditions for the blaze.

Obama London: Inexplicable Edits on Sarah Palin’s Facebook Page

Sarah Palin and her gang of lackeys have been busy this weekend deleting anything she’s ever said that might be construed to aiding and abetting someone in the commission of a violent gun terror incident.

They have also been adamant in deleting anything negative someone says on their Facebook page and so on. Which, you know, is their right. I unfriend nitwits myself so no one is above this kind of thing on a personal site.

This has been tracked – somewhat – here. Read it, it’s good stuff.

In the article the author also points out what is NOT being deleted by Palin and her goons.

This isn’t Palin’s words, but she allows it to remain on her page.

Is *she* palling around with terrorists now? Or at least scum who approve the killing of 9 year old kids whose politics they don’t agree with?

In a word, YES.
