This Week in Tea Baggery

Conservatives spent this week saying that carrying signs touting violent revolution and standing behind a woman calling for folks to “reload” and “target” people she doesn’t agree with doesn’t make people think that shooting people is a valid part of political debate.

This must be the “don’t do as I say” Biblical argument I have previously never heard of.

So, bad enough, but what else have these morons been up to?

Tea Bagging Senator Mike Lee of Utah thinks that federal child labor laws are unconstitutional. He thinks this should be left up to the states. Presumably this means we’ll soon be seeing all non-white, non-Mormon children digging for uranium in the near future?

In North Carolina, a school board packed with Tea Baggers has ended school integration. Apparently this district has some of the best schools in the state. The newly segregated schools will soon only reserve those for the whitest and not the brightest.

After taking a week to ignore their contributions to our culture of loving hate and hating love, Republicans are vowing to repeal – or at least pretend to repeal – the health care reform bill. They call it “job killing”. Like all things they say, they are dead wrong about this. Ezra Klein explains.

Winter Survival Tips

Some winter related links to pass along.

First off, some slightly tongue-in-cheek survival tips from the local library. Hint: stay warm and keep a book handy.

Local Minnesota winter resources. Good to keep some of those handy.

Plus a local Rochester station’s weather blog. I check this basically every day.

Other stuff:

Winter driving tips from MDOT.

FEMA winter tips. Just stay out of their trailers and you’ll be fine.

An emergency car kit checklist.

Easy home winterization projects. Some more easy than others. We are in an old house so every little thing helps.

Plus some helpful home maintenance tips I should be paying more attention to.
