A pretty cool look at how spacesuits have evolved. Considering we’ve only been at this for 50-ish years, it’s an interesting process to see.

Migration Blues
Turns out my old stalwart hosting provider – Ion Web – is calling it quits in the coming weeks.
So I have to move everything over to a new host. The blog is going to be the issue, what with moving the database and hoping it all comes up. I may even try to mess with the actual webpages. Don’t hold your breath on that though.
What does this mean to you? Well, if you come here often, there may be an interruption. I am going to clear a bunch of tab entries in the coming days just to start fresh on this end but after that you’ll see a lull. Yeah, more so than usual.
Either way, wish me luck. I really don’t have time for this but change and poor timing are inevitable.
CHART OF THE DAY: These Are The 47 Percent | TPMDC
Republicans like to villainize those who aren’t paying income tax. I mean, not the rich billionaires who don’t because they have unscrupulous accountants. No, I mean the the elderly, the poor, those in college. Those who contribute sale taxes, payroll taxes, or either have contributed or are going to once they get a degree.

Basically, folks who are part of society rather than abusing it without paying for their take.
And that’s what this is all about. I doubt very few of the Occupy Wall Street folks are against making money. They certainly aren’t against paying for a system that allows you to get rich, contrary to FAUXNews and other conservatives.
Are there some socialists in the mix? Damn right. How much of Europe operates under a socialist idea that you can make up to a certain amount and after that, the taxes hike up considerably? Many of the more prosperous nations do so. Hell, the US used to do it.
Profit with responsibility. If you aren’t paying for the roads and rails that help you ship goods, you aren’t doing right by your community. If you don’t pay for the navy protecting your oil tankers or the army fighting for resource access, you are cheating the society that lets you get rich.
There used to be responsibility and a sense of shame over not doing your part. Now there is a political party that will let you off the hook on all of that, which them damns poor people for not giving more than they already have.
Shameful.

Some really interesting things to consider in this diagram. Check it out.
The whole antibiotic thing is of some concern to me. We’re probably all screwed up there.
Economist Jeffrey Sachs at the Westminster Town Hall Forum | Minnesota Public Radio News
Here’s a really good talk about our current economic state.
So much so that I found Sachs putting into words so many things I only had a feeling for up until now.
Land of the Free, Home of the Poor | PBS NewsHour
Here is an interesting series that started awhile back.
We really need to get our crap together and fix what ails this country.

I am not sure what is more offensive, that these numbers are how they are or that so many of us have no clue where our nation stands.
‘Catch-22’: A Paradox Turns 50 And Still Rings True : NPR
The magic and horror and humor of Catch-22 is 50 years old today. Read it if you haven’t already. And read it again if you have.
‘MetaMaus’: The Story Behind Spiegelman’s Classic : NPR
The Maus books were the first ones to show me what you really could do with cartoons to tell a gripping story. Now there is a new book that tells the making of the classic.
Color me interested.
‘Bippolo Seed’ Uncovers Lost Stories Of Dr. Seuss : NPR
How do you go wrong with Dr. Seuss? I am looking forward to picking up this “new” book with stories most of us have never read.
This comes to mind as I have been having some unfriending issues online. Seems a lot of conservatives think it is cute to misquote Ted Geisel and other liberals, twisting their words or poetic forms to advocate mean spirited things, up to and including “jokes” about murdering certain black presidents of the United States.
Dr. Seuss had a lot of good lessons for our kids. NONE of them involved segregating others and advocating violence as good things to promote. Assassination as humor was never a thing or skeeches, loraxes, Whos, and just plain people.
It is odious to be that kind of person. And I am more than glad to separate myself from that ilk.
