I am not sure what is more offensive, that these numbers are how they are or that so many of us have no clue where our nation stands.
The magic and horror and humor of Catch-22 is 50 years old today. Read it if you haven’t already. And read it again if you have.
The Maus books were the first ones to show me what you really could do with cartoons to tell a gripping story. Now there is a new book that tells the making of the classic.

Get a plan, stop the usual bickering over tiny BS. Get everyone on board as best you can.
I am fairly excited about this and hope to get to it sometime soon.
Tonight in Minneapolis the 1968 Exhibit opens. Granted, before my time but it was certainly a year when the nation and the world was on a precipice. Extremists murdered King and Kennedy, we were at war for no good reason. Nixon embraced racism and became president.
Almost makes you wonder where the Baggers want to take us, doesn’t it?
MPR has been covering this, both this morning and at midday.
Some famous and not-so-famous pics of World War II.

Continuing with the book posts today, a nice interview with Eric Carle and how he came to his approach to writing and art.
Just when you thought there was enough for the Nazis to atone for, you find out there is still much, much more.
