Delis: Timeless Temples of “Jewish Soul Food” – CBS Sunday Morning – CBS News
Nice to see Harry Smith getting some plum assignments after CBS fired his ass from their morning show.
Too bad. Yeah, he was a willing tool for conservative blowhards and that makes him a vile miscreant of sorts, but he’s been interesting to watch over the years. Junior Anderson Cooperette and What’s-his-nuts just can’t hold a candle to this guy.
Synagogue’s Stained Glass Celebrates Festival of Lights
Another interesting bit from this week’s Sunday Morning:
JFK: Unpublished, Never-Seen Photos – LIFE
Bruno Mars: Singing His Own Songs, At Long Last : NPR
I don’t often listen to pop music or hip-hop or any derivation thereof. So I really had no clue who Bruno Mars is until I heard this interview he did on NPR last weekend.
I checked out some of his stuff and it isn’t all that bad. Not my usual listening material – whatever that might mean – but there’s some actual skill at work there.
So color me surprised and check it out if you’re interested.
Marwencol
This film looks amazing. It is going to play in Minneapolis but I really just don’t have the cash to go see it. Hopefully it catches some form of DVD distribution down the road. Check out the Marwencol site and watch the following trailer to see more about this story.
EFF’s Guide to Protecting Electronic Devices and Data at the U.S. Border | Electronic Frontier Foundation
Some good advice from the EFF on how to handle your electronic devices safely at border crossings.
Given that the TSA just blatantly sold itself like a cheap whore to Michael Chertoff’s naked picture taking company, don’t think those asshats work for you and me anymore. If they ever did at all.
Mining pollution may be hurting Minn’s wild rice | Minnesota Public Radio News
Every time I used to get sent up to Minnesota, some restaurant was trying to push it’s wild rice soup on me. Basically, one of the things I tie to the Upper Midwest is wild rice soup.
So it was a shame this morning to hear that “progress” is killing off the wild rice.
Hangovers: Now in the dairy aisle
I’m not sure what has brought this all about but apparently you can now buy 40 proof chocolate milk as well as 30 proof whipped cream.
I mean, it isn’t like we don’t have enough alcoholic beverages out there already that we’ve got to also load the dairy aisle with them too.
The brave new world of 3D printing | Marketplace From American Public Media
The more I read about this, the more I want to get into it.
Give this story a listen.
I’m totally going to look up getting a printer once I get back on my feet.
Incidentally, I seem to have only posted half a dozen times since the move. I may be having some job search depression kicking in. I’ll try to be more active and social in the near future.
