Minuteman Leader: When I Said To Come To The Border Locked And Loaded, I Didn’t Mean Locked And Loaded | TPMMuckraker

Minuteman Militia racists are “shocked” when they call for their minions to come to the border “locked and loaded” and said racist mob shows up armed to the teeth.

Looks, it’s bad enough you are bigoted pricks who don’t trust the civilian and military to properly protect this nation. It is worse when you naively don’t believe your own press and are confused as to why the worst parts of our society listen to your hateful directives to the letter.

If you are going to be that stupid, be silent. Your words are going to get people killed.

The 2010 Census: Stepping Out Of The Big White Box : NPR

While neither Puerto Rico nor Iranian, I can totally get the gist of this article.

I mean, I’m pretty light skinned, but you can obviously tell I’m not full Anglo. And it bugs me to fill out forms as “white” when I sure the hell aren’t getting the full white boy treatment in this world. I’ve got a chip on my shoulder for sure, but I didn’t put it there myself.

Or, as the article puts it:

“When I was applying for college, I actually looked for the box to mark Iranian,” he muses, “and I went to my counselor and I said, ‘There’s no Iranian box’ and they go, ‘Well, you’re white.’ I go, ‘What do you mean I’m white?’ I took all the insults growing up — camel jockey, towel head, all this other stuff — and all I had to say was, ‘Dude, I’m white!'”

How Obama moved in for the kill | Peter Hartcher

As we all knew, no matter how much it frustrates us, Barack Obama is playing a completely different political game than anyone else. We have health care reform – and a GOP knocked back on it’s heels – BECAUSE of his strategy.

“By calling a modern politician like Obama a communist, the Republicans have invited eye-rolling and alienated the most important voters – the persuadable ones. And Obama gets to appeal to a sense of fairness.”

 Jim Loftus, Democratic political consultant

We had eight years of Bush and Cheney, Now you get mad!? | Daily Kos

Just some concerns for the Tea Bagging ilk on why they were cool with Bush and Cheney driving the nation into the ground but now want violent revolt over equal pay for women and health care for our most needy citizens. Is this “compassionate conservatism” at work or just good ol’ fashioned Republican Racism?

You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate
energy policy.

You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn’t get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden.

You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans, drown.

You didn’t get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.

You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans…oh hell no.

The Rage Is Not About Health Care – Frank Rich

Frank Rich points out that, if you look at things historically, the psychotic over-reaction of the Tea Baggers and their ilk has no comparison. Except for one. The last time conservatives went this nuts was during the Civil Rights Bill passage in the 1960s. So, it isn’t about “socialism” or “government takeover of, well, NOTHING” or any of their talking points. It’s about racism. Pure and simple.

But I imagine most of you already knew that.

Whose Country Is It? – Charles M. Blow

This needs said. It needs said more often and by more people.

The problem is that the country romanticized by the far right hasn’t existed for some time, and its ability to deny that fact grows more dim every day. President Obama and what he represents has jolted extremists into the present and forced them to confront the future. And it scares them.

Even the optics must be irritating. A woman (Nancy Pelosi) pushed the health care bill through the House. The bill’s most visible and vocal proponents included a gay man (Barney Frank) and a Jew (Anthony Weiner). And the black man in the White House signed the bill into law. It’s enough to make a good old boy go crazy….

You may want “your country back,” but you can’t have it. That sound you hear is the relentless, irrepressible march of change. Welcome to America: The Remix.

A Brief History of Senate Reconciliation Votes – Making Government Transparent and Accountable – Sunlight Foundation Blog

You’ve heard Rethugs hyperventilate over the process, but they are the masters at using reconciliation to pass legislation the other side is against. Granted, I’m biased, but I’d rather see our citizens get health care than give millionaires more tax cuts. I mean, can’t we tax them at 90% like we did back in the old days? Some history on the process.

Palin, Tea Party Rally In Senator Reid’s Hometown

I honestly didn’t listen to any of the coverage from the TraitorFest in Searchlight today.

But I did get two things out of the above article.

One, this quote from a Harry Reid supporter:

“You don’t come to a man’s house and start creating a ruckus.”

Two, anytime you have to remind your audience that “I know you’re not a racist group,” then the group you’re with is probably racist. These things usually go without saying.

Republicans: Not just wrong, but really, really, really stupid too

This is what modern Republicans believe:

* 67 percent of Republicans believe that Obama is a socialist.
* 57 percent of Republicans believe that Obama is a Muslim
* 45 percent of Republicans agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was “not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president”
* 38 percent of Republicans say that Obama is “doing many of the things that Hitler did”
* Scariest of all, 24 percent of Republicans say that Obama “may be the Antichrist.”

It is, quite literally, impossible to reason with lunatics of this magnitude. Honest, decent Republicans have got to put a stop to these idiots taking over their party.
