This isn’t Rome and we don’t have Legions. Too often we are leaving the cost of our foreign affairs on the backs of too few. And, this is the cost of that shortsightedness.

One vote denied is one too many | StarTribune.com
I’m a bit down on this state. It is hard to fit in and I’m still looking for full-time work.
That said, and Michele Bachmann and her like-minded unethical, immoral flying monkeys aside, we have some good politicians here fighting the good fight.
Our representative, Tim Walz, is a stand up fellow in his own right and has fought against insider trading in the halls of Congress. Another, up near Minneapolis, is Keith Ellison. Here her is, making the case against GOP “Voter ID” laws that hope to disenfranchise populations that have chosen to vote against their hate and racism.

Great discussion on security from a guy who makes a lot of sense on the subject. Enjoy.
Santorum’s war on teleprompters – CNN Political Ticker – CNN.com Blogs
Rick Santorum hates teleprompters and wants them outlawed.
He hates birth control and wants it outlawed.
He hates abortion – and, really, who doesn’t when it comes down to it? (which is why I support birth control) – and wants it outlawed (which most of us do not).
He hates the separation of church and state and presumably wants it outlawed.
He hates higher education (despite having multiple degrees) and calls those who want it for all Americans “snobs”. He even homeschools his kids to keep them away from public education.
When will he come out against electricity? Against the repeal of the right of women to vote? Or the repeal of slavery?
How far back does he want to drag America back? Presumably before the founding on this nation.
The Bible, re-examined | Minnesota Public Radio News
Been meaning to post this for months. Really good discussion, particularly because the Bishop is unapologetic in denouncing his uninformed opponents.
Obama: War ‘is not a game. There’s nothing casual about it’ | Jay Bookman
THE foreign policy problem. Until they realize the world isn’t a video game and soldiers aren’t made of plastic, none of these folks deserves the responsibility of being Commander in Chief.

Federal Judge’s Racist Email May Have Violated US Ethics Code | Mother Jones
A federal judge appointed by Bush the Lesser portrays Obama as the product of a gangbang session (including bestiality) of an apparent party whore.
These cretins know he was conceived by two folks married and, at the time, committed to each other. But, hey, it was a mixed race marriage so it doesn’t count. You can say whatever racist, bigoted and spiteful thing about that because, well, he’s black you know.
And that is where I don’t think we have a chance in hell of reasoning with these kinds of people. The things that pass as jokes among this ilk increasing becomes more bitter, angry, hateful, and bigoted.
They are emboldened because enough people do not stand up to them. They get – at best – a slap on the wrist if caught. People still support them, give them a free pass.
They are losing power, numbers, and authority. And by their actions they will continue to lose respect.
When the masters of Apartheid saw the writing on the wall, they – in the main – did the best they could to pull their punches, ease restrictions and turn over their nation to folks they probably still consider subhuman. They knew their day was over and that their actions on the way out might dictate better treatment than they probably deserved. And, mostly, that did happen.
Look at our nation today and how those watching power slip from them are handling it. Makes those South African racists look like saints, don’t they?
