Some background on the Chrysler/Eminem ad that kinda stole the show for the Super Bowl ads.

GOP budget cuts: Deficit hawkery as farce | The Economist
Putting the lie to just about every conservative economic argument of late. It isn’t even partisan, it’s just reality.
Health Reform by the Numbers
Mother Jones has a reminder of who is getting helped by the health care reform law.
Think of these folks while Republicans are screeching about people’s rights being taken away or the cost of helping fellow citizens (instead of enriching, say, insurance companies).
Also, the White House is answering back these ridiculous charges with actual facts.
BBC – The Foods That Make Billions
An interesting series on how some basic foodstuffs are marketed – and how such marketing makes these huge successful items.
Las Vegas Weekly : – Vegas shows her scars

I used to drive by a few of these places fairly regularly. It is sad to see Vegas in it’s current state. I hope they are able to rebound from this.
Ariz. Cuts Transplant Coverage; Two Patients Die – CBS News
You don’t have to wait for an anti-government terrorist to cut you down in front of a grocery store to die in Aryzona.
All you have to do is be poor and need an organ transplant. Then Governor Brewer and her “compassionate conservative” lackeys will make sure to cut funding to cover transplants under Medicare and make sure that being poor is once again a death sentence in our land.
This reminds me of Mississippi and Governor Haley Barbour. He freed two sisters incarcerated for stealing $11. Should they have been punished? Yes. For 16 years? Questionable.
Released on condition that one sister donates a kidney to her dying sister because the state doesn’t want to pay for an organ transplant for a black girl? No. But that’s exactly what that fat jackass did. I understand that people want to be polite and praise him for some small sliver of humanity. But that isn’t why he did it. He wanted to save a few bucks, and demean some human beings to literally begging for both their lives and freedom.
This isn’t even criminal behavior by both these Republican “leaders”. It’s evil.
American farmers move to Mexico | PRI’s The World
Due to many factors, one of them being the rampant racism of our countrymen against migrant farm workers, many American farmers can’t make ends meet here in the US. Here are some pics and stories of those who have moved their farms to Mexico to go where the labor is.
Want more? The World did another story on the subject the next day.
Maybe when we stop blaming the poor for the things they have to do to survive, we might actually get to the root of the many problems we have. Unlike what most Republicans think, brown people really don’t want to cross borders illegally to get paid less than minimum wage and live stacked ten to a one bedroom apartment.
Georgia GOPer Pushes Bill For Taxes To Be Paid In Gold And Silver | TPMDC
It’s called fiat currency. You know, the bills in your wallet right now. Ever since Nixon took us off the gold standard, you and I accept the value of the dollar because we believe the US government will honor the value of the paper.
Let me say it again. Our currency works because both you and I believe our government is both stable and legitimate enough to honor the value printed on our money.
You AND I. All of us. Americans and foreigners alike.
That is how it works.
Unless you are a Republican.
Some jackhole legislator in Georgia is pushing for that state’s business to ONLY function using gold and silver.
Like not believing the President is American, or not believing gays are citizens, or in celebrating the Confederacy and slavery, this is akin to treason. Look, vote how you want to, be racist in your own home if you want to. Believe Sarah Palin is something more than an illiterate who quit her job when it got difficult. I don’t care.
But some things are real. One of them is accepting your role in keeping our country solvent. You’d think these clowns, who keep harping on how capitalism has more weight than your rights, would understand that this is how the economy works. Instead they just want to make Glenn Beck rich, even to the point of tinkering with treason.
Amazon Could Let You Return A Gift Before It’s Sent; Awful Or Awesome Idea? : The Two-Way : NPR
We heard about this the other day. It’s a great idea, despite it’s rudeness. Basically everyone gets what they want.
In the same vein, also heard this on the BBC about how much waste there is in gift giving. Makes the previous story a tad more relevant.
The Worst of Wall Street | Mother Jones
It has been a great year for greedy, immoral bastards. And they did some of their worst with our tax money. Here’s a roundup of the best of the worst.
