I realize the ridiculousness of the the following statement, but Duluth is our new San Diego.
By that I mean that it is a little over four hours away, is on the water, a definite vacation spot with good food and neat things to do.
I have had some great work experiences up there in the past and have enjoyed my time there with the family.
If you ever end up there, go to Pizza Luce. There is at least one in the Twin Cities, but do yourself a favor and go to the one in Duluth.
And now, an ever expanding beer scene. Don’t get me wrong, this is already in existence. Beer culture is alive and well. Carmody’s is probably in my top five bars I have ever been to. Nothing special about it except that the beer is amazing, the atmosphere even more so and it is just a good – but tiny – place to hang out. And now they have their own beer.
I can’t wait to go give all the new stuff a try.

They do some cool and valuable stuff up in this part of the world. One of which is a project that collects and catlogues plant seeds of heirloom fruits and vegetables for preservation and dissemination of what we might otherwise have lost.
Hell, given that we keep losing types of bananas, something like this is just a good idea if we don’t want to slip into a monoculture like the big ag companies are inadvertantly creating.
