We have not been to the fair since Covid, but I do love this building and the fish pond. If you ever got to the fair, you need to check it out. It *is* very busy most of the time though.

It’s fairly irresistible: Minnesota State Fair is a political proving ground
Did you know our state fair actually have some interesting political history? Give this a read.

Peggy Flanagan is poised to become the country’s first female Native American governor
Sure, it is Politico, but still a nice article about our Lt. Guv, and hopefully next governor.
Tolkkinen: Minnesota has become a state with two flags
No…
We have one flag. There’s an old flag that hasn’t been replaced or is being held on to by racists and curmudgeons.
That’s it.
I see a lot of businesses that went hard into this, buying pristine new versions of the old flag and trying to make some kind of statement by it.
Only statement they made is that they don’t want my money. And that maybe they hate Native Americans and have a kink for slavery.
Just get used to this one. It is a better look all around.

The DNC roll call featured a musical salute to each state. Here’s what your state chose
Not bad, not bad at all.
They *did* wimp out on Iowa though.
Explaining why your keyboard feels so darn good—or way too mushy
I am a bit picky about my keyboards. I have a nice, clicky Velocifire with a 10 key (DON’T EVER NOT GIVE ME A 10-KEY!) but don’t need to go too deep into the $400+ options.
Anyway, here’s a breakdown from Ars Technica about your computer’s main interface (unless you really just spend all day browsing).
The Battle Over Chavez Ravine
This got replayed a couple weeks ago and is another reminder that folks get driven out of their homes for the commercial benefit of already rich people all the time.
The fact this country isn’t burning in righteous indignation over the mistreatment of the poor and minorities is all you need to know about how timid folks are.
She could become the first Native American woman governor if Tim Walz steps down. Meet Peggy Flanagan
We could be in for a seismic demographic representational change in this state.
Flanagan seems good people. My only rip on her is that her husband, Tom Weber, was a great up-and-coming journalist for MPR before she became the lieutenant governor. He stepped down because of the perceived conflict of interest.
Frankly, given the conservative voice MPR has had since it changed owners, they’d have run him off anyway, but it was definitely a loss at the time.

Wholesome car news related to our Guv.
The Historic Power of Prey is in Your Ears
Little did I know that there is a Comanche language version of Prey.
