I learned the police had it out for me back when I was a brown teenage kid in Pasadena, TX. They absolutely *loved* to show up in force, shove our faces into the gravel and put a boot on our heads. Good times.
Turns out a few years ago, Minnesota learned this the hard way. At least this is going to court. I have low expectations but maybe this is the start of something changing.

Book ban attempts on the rise in Minnesota schools
The book burners are at it again. They cannot win.
Show up and vote against them whenever you can when they run for boards. Show up and let them know they are not welcome in your schools.
An art exhibition on ‘Deconstructing the Minnesota Flag’
We are debating changing the state flag up here. A local gent had already created one years ago but I guess they aren’t taking that one seriously. Here is a look at what may be coming.
From Elvira to Svengoolie, Local Horror Hosts’ Frightfully Fun History

The world has soccer/futbol and basketball. And – maybe – there is room for more baseball across the globe. If nothing else, here’s a great story of one attempt to grow the game.

One Artist’s Mission to Illustrate All the World’s Mythical Beasts
I know I am playing catch up with a lot of old links but these have been good reads for me and with the loss of my old Moveable Type tool I didn’t have much of a chance to post.
Enjoy this look at a project to put a face to names many of us know of but maybe not as much as we should.
Zheng Yi Sao: The most successful pirate in history
More from the Things They Won’t Teach You in School program. A pirate, non-English, not a man. Best there was at what she did.
The long, strange history of the baseball cap
This was a fun read, and I actually learned a few things.
