20 Things I Learned About Browsers and the Web
A pretty good overview of the web.
It hits some critical highpoints and does it without being too preachy or overly complicated.
Batman Submits to Sharia, Gotham Freaks Out
Conservatives are pissed off that, in the comic series, Batman has outsourced in for the Paris operation picked a young Muslim kid.
That’s right. One of the oppressed groups in France are Muslims. So instead of enjoying a story where they are empowered to not break the law, our right wing idiots can’t stand the idea of a Muslim trying to bring criminals to justice.
Because, you know, to them everyone brown is a criminal.
What the Huck? | GeekDad | Wired.com
Man this pisses me off every time I hear about it.
Some jackass decided that having racial slurs in Huckleberry Finn is what is stopping people from reading it. So he’s taking the offensive words out.
This is completely missing the point. For all the silliness that might make political correctness a joke, not once have I seen an effort to whitewash the past so it won’t offend us in the here and now.
Of course, the pro-censorship conservative types are all for this. Even as they host Secession Balls and hate that the president is black, they – gasp! – don’t want anyone to be offended by the n-word in a book.
Maybe we should cut out all the genocide and rape in the Bible and see how they like it. I guess we can keep the torture of Jesus in there though. If there is anything conservatives would like, it would be torturing a Jewish guy who looks like a hippie.
The BBC had a lively discussion on the subject as well.

The Hunt Is On: Massive Collider Churning Out Data : NPR
Science!
The world hasn’t ended. We haven’t breached space/time. All the naysayers and religious freakazoids are wrong. Just like they are about AIDS being a punishment against gays. Or climate change being wrong. Or about how it’s God’s will for them to bomb brown people. Just plain wrong.
Here is what the folks at the Large Hadron Collider have actually been up to.
