Zakaria: My interview with President Obama – Global Public Square – CNN.com Blogs

I like Zakaria. He did a decent job on this interview with the President.

I mean, after all the hateful and racist BS thrown at him, it is hard to be critical without somehow siding with the secessionist inbreeders aligned against Obama and still sound educated and earnest, but he does it.

Contrary to GOP propaganda, the President is actually doing what this country needs and hopefully they’ll still be choking on their hate on their deathbeds knowing he was right in most instances. At least, more correct than their traitor queen Palin would have been in the job.

Seriously, how close to utter insipidness did we actually come?

More here for as long as they keep it online.

Know The Font Of This Headline? You’re ‘Just My Type’ : NPR

Obama the candidate really had a smart operation four years ago. One of those effective things was his branding, including great font usage. Let us hope the fonts still works, as does the messaging.

He really has to get across what he is willing to do once the possibility of re-election is off the table. By that I mean, he’s spend three years compromising with folks who have done nothing but demean his patriotism, his faith, his convictions, the color of his skin, and his family members.

Screw them. It hasn’t even resulted in much meaningful legislation. I want to see a president who not only points out how childish, cruel, and reactionary his opponents are, but how he plans to do his job despite them. Honestly, he’s got nothing to lose so he had best start making the argument that way.

Barack Obama is Not That Hard to Understand | Mother Jones

I can’t wait for the future, when we put away the Birther BS and the angry progressive BS, which in the end kind of sound the same, and look back at this time as consider ourselves so very, very lucky we had this man in office instead of Palin.

And if you think McCain would have survived under this kind of pressure, you’re nuts. I think even he would agree if his most honest, quiet moments.

I could hand out a laundry list of things that definitely would NOT have happened in a GOP presidency, but you have your own angry list, part truth, part fiction, of how you’ve been disappointed.

I read Andrew Sullivan’s conservative defense of Obama, and – given its bias – agree with the premise if not quite the details.

I have a bias too.

Frankly, if I had secessionist nitwits from Palin to Perry questioning my patriotism, much less my status as a citizen, I wouldn’t have been able to keep my cool. If I had every abortion clinic bomber cheering for me to die and for the right to carry guns to national parks and to shut the whole country down because they can’t handle the color of my skin, I’d have given their fondest dreams a reality and built those damn FEMA camps they have wet dreams about.

Which is why I’m not president. I would not allow these “Christians” to abuse my wife, mock my children, hell, insult my dog the way this guy has.

I would have, literally, grabbed the nearest FOXNews git and choked them out. Or at least have spent WAY too much time fantasizing about it.

So, temperament alone, after the Age of Bush, I give the man credit. It doesn’t hurt that he genuinely seems to give a damn about this country to boot. Seriously, he doesn’t care what you think. It shows. And he’ll get to smirk quietly in his dotage as all his work pays off over the decades.

That said, I’ll thank him now. And hope he gets a second term where he really, genuinely can ignore the traitors. By that I mean the writers who fill the bookshelves with them standing in front of waving American flags with titles about how America is finished.

Seriously, they have had the reins of power for much of the past three decades. If America has failed, I place the blame at their feet.

Not all that funny. Or “Fair and Balanced” for that matter

John Stewart went on Fox News Sunday and basically got Chris Wallace – a journalist who became a shill apparently without even knowing it – to admit that FAUX is pushing an ideological agenda.

We all know that they are, but he’s their prize reporter, the guy they turn to whenever people call them talking-point-driven liars. Even he knows he’s pushing a side.

Stewart calls out the fake coverage of some of what he said (and he knows from fake journalism, right?) and then lays down a volley of things said on FAUX that have never been corrected.

Ta-Nehisi Coates over at The Atlantic reminds us of Stewart’s core argument: he’s a comedian that runs a show mocking the news.

Having Chris Wallace try to compare Comedy Central to FAUX is hilarious. In short, he points out that Comedy Central’s jesters are folks like Pamela Anderson getting roasted with jokes about Tommy Lee’s dick. And FAUX’s jester – until he’s unemployed next week – is Glenn Beck, the guy who wants to be taken seriously as a “prophet” who laments the fact that no one has shot the president yet.

For more on what conservatives view as fun, read this. Then, if you can stomach it, you can watch the video. The material isn’t the worst thing I’ve heard from a conservative’s mouth, but the vile, gleeful, lusty laughter from the crowd just makes you want to instantly hate these people.

Weekly Address: Celebrating Father’s Day

What most of his detractors forget when they are calling the President some kind of Muslim, Kenyan, socialist destroyer of America is that he’s got kids.

He’s a father, and apparently a good one. And a much better man than those who yell epithets and cheer for someone to kill him solely because of the color of his skin.

Happy Father’s Day Mr. President and to all you other fathers trying to raise your kids to be good people.
