Just to follow up on my last post, Maureen Dowd’s most recent editorial adds to the “GOP are racists” debate.
One of my co-workers posted something about resurgent McCarthyism on Facebook this week and one of our other co-workers basically railed against “Socialists who hate our Republic” and other assorted shit she probably learned from Glenn Beck’s knee. I shot back with a comment or two and then she assails us all as the “usual suspects” who have “no respect” for others. You know, because calling someone a traitor demands respect given in return or something.
I’m getting really tired of these hypocrites.

It takes people who lack a moral compass to justify nine figure salaries while denying cancer patients care because they failed to disclose previous bouts of acne. It is no surprise that insurance executives, who are always busy chasing after the next five figure bonus, are coming up with a novel way to deny people access to medical care: labeling survivors of domestic violence as “individuals with pre-existing conditions.”
I love this story about an archaeologist trying to find some piece of history the Taliban didn’t get around to destroying.

Just when I think NPR has knuckled under to their conservative whims, I hear a story like this.
They still have a LONG way to go before I feel like I should donate to them again but this is a good place to start.
Patients wants health care reform and, prior to the usual fearmongering, over 70% wanted a public option.
But hey, even doctors overwhelmingly support a public plan.
But the insurance company-purchased politicians want to bury the public option from their watered down plans. Do your part to let your representatives know to not only keep it in, but to actively support it.
Once again, what liberal media?

Oh yeah, apparently Joe McCarthy is back in vogue for the traitors.
Who has done a better job of keeping the country safer – George Bush or Barack Obama? Well, as soon as it we make it past the morning of 9/11, then Obama will have officially kept us safer longer than George Bush did. It’s empirical. You can’t argue with it.
