I don’t know why this surprises anyone. The GOP has spent the last 50 years collecting every racist in the country like they were Pokemon cards. Even their “Massachusetts liberal” presidential candidates can’t help but give warm bear hugs to bigoted blowhards.
I mean, I know Republicans who aren’t racists, but many of them refuse to criticize those that are for the sake of party line purity.
You sleep with pigs, you wake up in the stink. That’s all I’ve got to say.
Now, remember, it isn’t polite to point out that some Republicans might be racists or even bigots, no matter what horrible things come out of their mouths.

I have lived in Texas, worked in almost every southern state. They fly a flag celebrating treason, still call elderly black men “boy” and have taken a serious look at treating (mostly) undocumented brown folks into either felons or slave labor. Or both. And most of the latter has happened in earnest just this year in states like Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina.
So, yeah, this article speaks to that syndrome. That sickness. That unspoken sin carried by anyone who still believes in racial hatred or just quietly lets in hang like an evil fog just outside their front doors.
Individually, I might feel bad for some of Alabama’s farmers. Not all of them got on board with the “let’s vilify brown people” program. All in all though, I am glad to see their economy suffer. If you reap hatred, go ahead and sow it by yourselves, you bastards.
Arpayaso’s goons have finally crossed the line. It seems they may have finally killed a man placed into their custody. Into their care.
Why? In the end, probably because of the color of his skin.
Here’s the thing. You start fulfilling the sterotypes built by our enemies: you discriminate based on the color of people’s skin, you lock folks up and through away the key, you because what you spend a lot of hot wind saying you aren’t.
Welcome to Alabama, which thinks it is just fine to hunt down anyone brown and make everyone flee the state, legal status or not.
Hell, *I* sure the hell don’t want to go there and face arrest because I’m a darker shade than lily white.
And while they swear this isn’t about race and is a smart strategy, this law against Mexican first collared a Yemeni national in this nation legally. Nice job!
But hey, no problem, right? Oh, except for that whole “you have to prove you are a citizen just so you can get clean water” business. Hell, even the racist Minutemen give folks water!
I seriously hope folks of any type of tinted skin stay the hell out of that state. And if anyone could point out ways to not let any of our cash stray towards Alabama, I’d love to hear about it.
In Alabama, like Georgia and North Carolina before them, racism is put above both economic and civil rights concerns as the state basically makes it illegal to be brown.
Sure, there are undocumented and falsely documented workers in this country. Either find a way to get them to work legally or find a way to pay Americans enough to do the work. Because, whatever the current laws are trying to do is just going to make a lot of folks hungry, both the workers not getting paid, the farmers fined or forced out of business, and the rest of us paying more for smaller amounts of food as it rots in the fields.
Short-sighted and cruel conservatives will truly be the undoing of this nation if their agenda can’t be stopped. Or at least turned to productive ends. Laws like the one mentioned sure as hell won’t do the job.
Once again, it surprises me that most folks don’t believe that those driving the bus in the GOP are bigots and full of racial hatred. I mean, sure, not all members of the party are, but look at who they get as leaders.
So, it is nice to see the mask slip off if even just for a moment.
The shock value of those who are naive is funny, if depressing, to watch. You want to hope the folks on your side are smarter than that. What truly bites though is how otherwise decent conservatives just drive their heads further in the sand.
I am related to those folks. I am friends with some too. You want better for – and from – them.

This begins with a roundup of thing Georgia has done to make it very uncomfortable to be Latino down there. Hell, it’s been dangerous to be non-white there for centuries.
And it isn’t just a color thing. These cretins are both proud to have voted for a guy who questioned the patriotism of a paraplegic honored veteran AND supported Michael Vick AFTER the dog killing facts came out.
I know folks who love Atlanta, can’t say enough about the rest of the state. That’s fine. Personally, I’d let a modern day Sherman re-enact the burning of the place.
The more I read, the more I’m inclined to help fund such an effort.
HB 87 is the bill that makes it state law to hunt down undocumented immigrants and, well, I don’t know really. Something draconian and “Christian” I imagine, like forcibly breaking up a family, burning the birth certificates of any children born here, or something along those lines.
Turns out a downside to trying to make your state lily-white – or less brown anyway – is that no one is around to pick your produce. Using folks on probation hasn’t worked out so well.

We’re all probably going to pay more at the market as these racist Tea Baggers keep pulling this kind of thing. It isn’t enough for them to let the rich live tax free, they have to amp up the cost of everything for the rest of us too. In short, we’re paying for them to be racist pricks to folks just looking for some money to feed their families.
