Actually, I hope this is how it goes. I hope every bigoted “Christian” organization in this nation runs hard to the right wing and turns off common sense decent Americans. That way, the only churches left should be morally responsible ones. Or so I hope.

I caught part of this interview with Episcopalian Bishop Eugene Robinson today that focused a bit on the subject. At one point, some hate-filled caller phoned in arguing some bizarre theory that gays can’t be married because they aren’t different. By that logic, I say we ban marriage between people of the same religion or even race. You know, because different genders are as relevant as either of those and many other things, right?

As usual, only a man raised in a culture of hate and then grew to realize it’s poison can best call it out for what it is.

Plus, in a similar vein, a guy tries to legally get a church to stop praying for him and his family to die violently after he protested against the Air Force Academy turning into Talibangelical Central. Seeing as he is Jewish, he had a problem with a government military force trying to convert everyone to wingnut style Christianity. He basically wants the church to “stop asking Jesus to plunder my fields … seize my assets, kill me and my family then wipe away our descendants for 10 generations.”

More compassionate conservatism than he wanted apparently.

Even the Bible is “too liberal” for conservatives. They are now rewriting the Word of God to get rid of things that offend them. Among the things that bother them are words like “comrade”, “peace”, and “miracle”.

And they want to remove all references to “Yahweh” or “Jehovah”. Still not kidding.
