Ex-Minuteman Chris Simcox sentenced to 19.5 years in child sex-abuse case

It is important to remember that Simcox was a media darling a few years back. The second issue of Good Magazine, the last one I’ll ever read, focused on him and the Minutemen vigilante immigrant hunters.

Now he’s being jailed as a pedophile. Everyone is running from him, acting like he’s an outlier. But he isn’t.

You will increasingly see the hatred in their ranks. The low character. The violent husband. The kiddie diddlers. Drug addicts. Gun fetishists. Anti-democratic (and Democratic) violent extremists.

It is a type. And you can’t build a country around it. Not one I want to live in anyway.

And it is on the ballot this fall.

Daily Kos: John McCain rewrites his epitaph

No one person can ruin John McCain’s credibility any more the man himself.

Me? I already thought he was pond scum years ago. The real icy on that mud pie was when Bush the Lesser and the gang decided to attack McCain’s adopted daughter in the 2000 primary and then McCain not only campaigned for Bush but eventually gave the cretin a big ol’ bear hug.

I’ve said it before: you attack my family, you’ve got an enemy for life. You ain’t getting a hug. Ever.

He’s wrong about things. Often. Damn near always. Don’t take my word for it. Think about all the crazy shit he’s said. The erratic positions. The insane decisions. That is a whole lot o’ crazy.

This Benghazi thing is just the one more thing before his next “one more crazy ass thing”.

People take him seriously. And they shouldn’t. And they should stop putting himself in front of a camera like he’s capable of coherent thought or policy.

Maddow mentioned this crap the other day.

GOP Opposes Critical Thinking: Party platform paints original ideas as a liberal conspiracy – News Blog – The Austin Chronicle

At first I was disgusted by this news, then I realized it has to be done.

First, Republicans are among the most uninformed voters out there. Hell, they’ve got a channel that feeds them outright lies to keep them that way.

But, more importantly, with all the anti-woman, anti-everything-the-Klan-isn’t BS they are slinging, the only way these folks will stay in power is to keep folks from thinking.

So, while odious, they’re at least being honest about the conditions they need to “succeed”.

Conservatives Do Massive Facepalm Over Romney’s ‘Very Poor’ Gaffe | TPM2012

You know, for a guy who has been running for president for five years, you;d think Willard Romney would know all about the sound byte. While it makes sense to think so, if you did, you’d be wrong.

“I’m not concerned about the very poor, we have a safety net there.” – Willard Romney

He compared the “very poor” to rich people, implying, at least, that each deserved their status through their own fates. The poor, the argument goes, target=”_blank”>do not need help. They already have government cheese.

This, my friends, is literally the best the GOP can offer us for leadership and as mouthpiece for their ideas. The alternatives are Gingrich and Paul. Don’t even start me on Santorum.

That’s it. This is the best they can do. It is science fair presentation do and we don’t even have a baking soda submarine on display.

(Full disclosure: I *love* government cheese cheese sandwiches *and* baking soda submarines.)

Report: Tea Party’s Favorite Snake Needs Government Aid | Mother Jones

This is funny in the ironic symbology kind of way. Tea Bagging Traitors across America have taken to flying the Gadsden flag as a symbol of protest.

Primarily because they are unoriginal bastards and, more to the point, snakes themselves.

Turns out, however, that the snake on the flag – the Eastern diamondback – is endangered and in need of government protection if any are to remain.

Irony. Tastes delicious!

Iowa Republicans To The GOP: Please Don’t Ask Us Who Won : It’s All Politics : NPR

Want to know why Republicans are worried so much about voter fraud? I mean, sure, yes, they definitely want to disenfranchise minorities, old people, college kids, overseas military personnel, and anyone else who might potentially vote for a Democrat.

But, also this. In Iowa, the GOP has shown that it is utterly incapable of handling a fair election on their own.

In a caucus process run SOLELY by Republicans, composed SOLELY by Republicans, they don’t know who won. They even – two weeks after the case – have had to throw out the results of eight caucus sites because they have no clue how those votes went. Hell, one site they left in had an adjusted total of 50 votes!

No wonder they don’t trust anyone else. They can’t even do it right by themselves.
