Think Progress » GOP Senator Leading Attacks Against Health Care Reform Admits Gitmo Detainees Get Better Care Than Americans

Here in Nevada we have one spineless Senator who, even when handed the reins of power, is impotent in the face of angry fools. His name is Harry Reid.

Our other Senator is a twit. Here is just one example.

Trust me, there are SO many more examples of this man’s ignorance, cruelty, and stupidity.

The “Gay Tax”

Michael Steele, figurehead for a failed racist party, thinks that gay marriage would be bad for small businesses because of all the damned benefits that newly legal partners would be deserving.

What the idiot refuses to get, according to said article is that his argument not only is BS, it is also a good argument for a) not hiring married people or those with children, and b) socialized medicine.

So now the GOP is Anti-Family Employment? Only single people will have jobs in the Talibangelical Hegemony?

Say it with me: the Republican Party hates YOUR marriage and YOUR children!

That said, I read another article recently that states how good instituting gay marriage would be for gay families. And not just the “you are no longer second class citizens” benefits. I hadn’t thought about this, but consider the following. Gay couples have to file taxes as single people. They also can’t claim each other as dependents so have to pay double insurance. It’s called the “gay tax”.

And contrary to Steele’s point, a death in a gay couple saves people money. No social security benefits and I am sure beneficiary payments are fought tooth and nail by the insurance industry.

Saving money by being anti-democracy bigots. Sounds just like some kind of GOP rallying cry.

I still stand by the concept that gay couples shouldn’t have to pay taxes. If we are going to deny them freedoms, they should be exempt from paying to be treated so. It sure looks like they are paying more than their fair share, and that in itself should be a crime some bigots should have to do time for.

This week in Rethug lies, distortions, and crass behavior

Just a quick rundown on some crap that should be pointed out more and isn’t.

Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee can’t handle the truth when it is laid out by the President of Pakistan. You know, our ally.

State Senator Kim Hendren of Arkansas decided it would be cute to refer to Senator Chuck Shumer of New York as “that Jew”. Granted, that kind of talk is probably accepted in close door sessions of Republicans nationwide, but seriously….

The Washington Times thought it would be cute to run an article concerning school violence in Chicago and attach a picture of the Obama girls to it.

You know, the kids that haven’t been Chicago school students since…um…their father became President? To only message to infer here is that they’d like the girls shot dead.

Representative Tom Price is another of those Republicans who think that exploratory drilling off our coasts can make up for not buying Saudi oil or some such, says we can create 36 million jobs by doing so. One, there is no guarantee the oil is out there. Two, it will take over a decade to really pump any oil or gas we *might* find. Oh, and three, we currently employ less than 200,000 people in the oil and gas industries.

Last up, the costs of our stupidity. The Taliban has taken to waterboarding captured American soldiers. They swear it is legal and useful based on the opinion that WE said it was legal and useful.

Thanks for endangering our troops assholes!

Paul Begala: Mr. Cheney, You Did Not Keep Us Safe

I’ve been rough on Paul Begala. Not that he cares, but I do.

Prior to becoming a raging Clintonite, he used to make a lot of sense. His pal James Carville didn’t but Jimmy has always been more about finding the cogent needle in the haystack of madness he unleashes. Basically, Jimmy is a lost cause trying to ass kiss his way back into relevancy. Begala is the sane component of that duo.

So, here is his detailed, coherent, and rational argument against the madness of Dick Cheney.

Honestly, anyone taking the side of Dick in this argument, should probably be taken out back, waterboarded 183 times, and then asked again what they think. I imagine these chickenhawks might be changing their minds when faced with reality.

Explorer-Scouts Train in Post-9/11 Law Enforcement Methods – NYTimes.com

You know, when deciding whether or not to have my son join the Boy Scouts later in life, I’m going to have a few things on my checklist.

First, are they still Talibangelical enablers?

Second, do they support bigotry and exclusion when it comes to membership?

And a new third: will they try to train my son to be some kind of neo-con deathwatch stormtrooper?

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people?

In Moscow, an Attempt to Wed Pushes Gay Rights – NYTimes.com

Rethug Conservatives love the Putin Russia.

Don’t believe me?

They love a police state under the rule of an all powerful military and intelligence community.

They love bombing anyone they want with impunity (re: Chechnya, Georgia, etc.).

They love having a big energy conglomerate (i.e. Gazprom) work without any government restrictions and constantly padding politico’s pockets and having it’s own small army. Imagine Exxon with Blackwater/Xe as it’s strong arm.

They love bigotry, especially government sanctioned homophobia. The linked article focuses on a couple that wanted to get married and were denied, just like Republicans get wet about whenever they think about it happening here in America.

So, sure, some Dems would like the US to be a tad more socialist. Not the president, but they are right about some liberal types.

However, it seems the conservatives in our nation would love to fall over themselves to emulate post-Soviet Russia ala Putin style. It completely seems to be right up their alley.

Liberal – Conservapedia

Once you get past the bullshit bias in the write-up, this is a very common-sense and conventional definition of what being a liberal is.

That said, does ANYONE truly know what being a conservative means today?

Also, how pathetic do you have to be to create your own version of an encyclopedia because reality has proven you wrong at every turn?

Henninger: Should the GOP Forget Reagan? – WSJ.com

One of the best parts of watching the GOP eat itself is it’s veneration for Reagan. In this op-ed, it is stated that Republicans should return to the financial legacy of Reagan. You know, the one where we bankrupted our nation, quadrupled the national debt and shot our economy in the gut in order to kill the Soviets. Yeah, brilliant strategy, idiots.

The author disparages the work of President Obama and compares what he is doing to what happened in postwar Japan. You know, the postwar Japan that quickly modernized and became an economic juggernaut because of careful government investment. The Japan that bought up a large part of Manhattan because they literally were running out of ways to spend the massive profits they were earning.

The Japan that beat our asses so bad that Chrysler is a bankrupted half-Italian auto company and GM is on it’s way to something similar. But my Acura runs just fine, thank you.

Yeah, that was a HORRIBLE business model.

Besides, aside from the stupid assertions of said article, I’d already say the GOP is well past doing anything but give lip service to the Gipper. As bad as the Reagan years were, and they truly DID suck for a lot of people, he looks like a freaking saint next to the people who have claimed his mantle of authority.

Reagan apparently had once gone after and prosecuted a Texas sheriff for – drumroll – waterboarding prisoners. Apparently this was even before we signed international treaties that stated the practice was illegal.

But now? Nah, the GOP falls all over itself trying to torture any Muslim it can find.

As for racism, Jack Kemp recently passed and while I did not like the guy’s policies, he seemed like a decent human being. You can’t really say that about your average John Boehner or GOP Southern Senator at Random. That said, his public letter to his grandkids on the election of Obama would have gotten him driven out of the party by the likes of Limbaugh, et al had he still been an active political figure.

Don’t believe me? Then how about Limbaugh trying to drive Colin Powell out of the GOP for endorsing the president? You know, because he only did it because Obama is black?

Meanwhile, the GOP’s idea of a good guy to help pick the next Supreme Court Justice is Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III of Alabama. Aside from his Junior Confederate General name, he’s also got ties to white supremacists.

Or how about the cast of bigots and racists from the GOP that are against the Hate Crimes Bill?

Or that the major challenge to “moderate” John McCain in Arizona come from the head of the racist Minuteman Militia, Chris Simcox?

These aren’t minor coincidences. This is the hardcore racist agenda behind today’s GOP. Watch the election rally video of McCain’s appearances and particularly the racist Palinite mobs.

THAT is the GOP. And as much disdain as I had for Reagan, I’m pretty damn sure he wouldn’t have put up with that crap.

Forget Reagan? Oh, hell, the party did that a LONG time ago.

Republican Hero: Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Joe Arpaio has it all to be a GOP hero. He’s hard on crime. He treats his criminals in ways that would get you imprisoned if you treated animals that way. He demeans common small time crime offenders.

Oh yeah, he’s also a raging anti-immigrant racist. Arizona seems to breed these guys like weeds.

One other thing. Some of his co-workers think he’s a disgrace to the badge.

You won’t catch me arguing against that.

Overstepping his bounds, going out of his way to punish offenders, dragging his policies into politics, he’s an all-around dirtbag. Heck, I think we *should* be tougher on criminals, I just don’t think we need to treat them like livestock.
