You don’t have to like Paul Ryan. You certainly do not have to vote for him. But Moyers is right, he’s probably the most honest candidate on a presidential ticket of their’s since Barry Goldwater.

Which is probably awful news in that our nation has sunk this low, but given the ties to cretins like Rep. Todd “Legitimate Rape” Akins, it paints a full picture of the modern Republican Party.

I have probably learned more about the Dakota War in the past week than I have throughout my life merely by listening to the radio.

There have not been any punches pulled in the telling of the tale and that is important. History can be ugly, each side can be just as guilty of atrocities. It is important to remember that, especially in a place where “my country, right or wrong” seems to rule the day.

At first I was disgusted by this news, then I realized it has to be done.

First, Republicans are among the most uninformed voters out there. Hell, they’ve got a channel that feeds them outright lies to keep them that way.

But, more importantly, with all the anti-woman, anti-everything-the-Klan-isn’t BS they are slinging, the only way these folks will stay in power is to keep folks from thinking.

So, while odious, they’re at least being honest about the conditions they need to “succeed”.
