Scumbag — Joe Paterno says he didn’t know how to handle Jerry Sandusky abuse report – ESPN

So, if you are Joe Paterno, you get to walk around as a free man with thousands, if not tens of thousands of people defending you and fighting to get your old job back.

Why? I honestly could not tell you.

If you are the average person, say, in charge of a few employees in a small shop. Say you found out from a reporting employee that they just saw another employee in a company restroom having forced sex with a pre-teen.

First, most of you would ask the idiot why thy didn’t try to stop it.

Secondly, you’d call the cops. Hell, call ANYBODY. Even NAMBLA probably has standards this violates. That’s right, I’ll say it. Even pedophiles don’t pull this crap in public. At least, if they do they sure as hell aren’t getting caught doing it.

Third, you follow up on the case.

Also, fourth, you do everything in your power to no longer be responsible for the character and activities of a child rapist.

What you do NOT do is wait a couple months after it turns out you barely did ANY of the aforementioned things, is try to say you sat on your hands and did not protect children because you really weren’t clear on what the policy was”.

Policy. He let a scumbag in his employee physically abuse children and didn’t do much about it because he wasn’t clear on the policy.

That, and, oh damn, he’s got cancer.

If you cannot do your job, which, let’s be fair, is to develop, train, educate, and KEEP KIDS SAFE! because of your guilt cancer, then QUIT!

But first, report the incident(s) and KEEP reporting and checking to make sure another child doesn’t get raped by your underling.

Don’t talk to me about “poor” Joe Paterno. He’s as guilty as the guy doing the acts.

Obama’s new approach to war chalks up another win | StarTribune.com

Yes, this is old.

Yet, given this is an election year, still relevant.

There are two trends that always seem to befuddle me. Republicans are given this assumed image that they are great for capitalism and effective war leaders.

It isn’t true though.

Economically, the average American fares better under Democratic administrations, as well as the general economy itself.

Wars? FDR beat the Nazis, Reagan conquered Grenada.

Bush got us into Iraq and Obama got our troops out of there. Not a clean victory, but it made up for the false reasons we went in there.

Granted, Nixon got us out of Vietnam, which Johnson mismanaged. Given the crap that mess was, call it a draw.

So, you are more apt to get into a brushfire war with a Third World nation and fight to a draw under the GOP and lose money and your savings with it. What is the reason to vote for these guys again?

Sports & Religion

For some daffy reason I can’t embed this. So go watch and come back.

As a baseball fan, I always come back to this scene when Tebow comes up in conversation.

“Lord, I know I always said I would never involve you in a baseball game. Always seemed silly. You’ve got enough to do.”

Or as the plot reads:

“God, I always said I would never bother you about baseball, Lord knows you have bigger things to worry about.”

Either way, that’s the Billy Chapel approach from “For Love of the Game”.

Hell, that should be EVERYONE’S approach, at least on the outside.

Granted, Billy *does* ask for help on high at that moment, but only to take away some shoulder pain. No bowing, prostrating, or proselytizing.

No signature prayer move. No verses inscribed on his face.

He just did his job, and if the Almighty wanted to have a say in it, that was entirely up to him.

I’m no Pats fan in general, but that game tonight was damned entertaining to watch for the sheer comeuppance value. Tebow needed to be knocked down a peg, and so do his bandwagon fans. Not Bronco fans, Tebow fans. The Bronc fans have earned their share of hope – and misery – and they stick around despite some horrific heartbreak over the years.

The others are just looking to push a message at the expense of all else. Don’t believe me? Then why the hell was Focus on the Family inserting themselves into beer and car ads?

GOP Muffs Up Hispanic Outreach Effort Pretty Much Immediately | TPM2012

I don’t know why this surprises anyone. The GOP has spent the last 50 years collecting every racist in the country like they were Pokemon cards. Even their “Massachusetts liberal” presidential candidates can’t help but give warm bear hugs to bigoted blowhards.

I mean, I know Republicans who aren’t racists, but many of them refuse to criticize those that are for the sake of party line purity.

You sleep with pigs, you wake up in the stink. That’s all I’ve got to say.
