How, and where, to start kicking our dependency on oil.

How, and where, to start kicking our dependency on oil.

From Political Irony:
“So which is it conservatives? Do you want Obama to stop the oil spill and clean up after it, or do you really want the federal government to stay out of it? You can’t have it both ways.”

Some commentary at PI on how most racists start out a discussion on how they aren’t racist at all. And then go on to proof that to be a lie.
I’ve been reading some of the news and editorials in Prescott and find it heartening that some see the mural debacle as a chance to grow as a community. For the most, it has joined folks together and even a local paper hopes it doesn’t define it’s citizenry.
That said, a quick read of the comments of the above stories shows the hate-filled spittle, anger, and fear of those who want to whitewash our society and make criminals out of folks solely on the color of their skin.
Screw Aryzona. Maybe when these old racists die off, you can make something good of your state, but for now you are a cancer on this nation. God bless those of you who have to live in that tyranny of racist hate.
Meet Mikey Weinstein, the man dedicated to stopping the Talibangelical takeover of our military.
Some of his work, plus more of the reason he needs to do his work is covered in this Harper’s article.
Republicans shouldn’t be allowed on the internet. Don’t believe me? Here is my latest example. Seriously, every time these clowns roll out a new internet initiative, it fails stupendously.
This just goes along with other things conservatives should be kept from. Like bombs, children, science, education, etc.
Too close to reality, but still funny.

This is freaking hilarious. I only wish I’d had a chance to print one before they took the site down.

Here’s a small image version of the masks:

From the Obvious Department, Latinos seem to have a growing distrust of the Republican Party.
Gee, I wonder why?
Here’s one example of the toxic environment the GOP has created. An American citizen (born in Puerto Rico) was held by La Migra for three days on suspicion of being an illegal alien. Sure, he was busted for possibly committing a crime, but he got out on bail for that. That doesn’t make him an illegal. He even had all his papers and they held him over a weekend.
But, hey, the cops and conservatives couldn’t possibly be racist because they didn’t believe his paperwork was real. Right? Just like they can’t believe Hawaii issues legal birth documents I suppose.
Right?
Conservatives LOVE to talk about getting the government out of the economy and “letting the market decide”.
That is, until something goes wrong. As much as the GOP bitches about bailouts, it was a Republican president who pushed for them, and a lot of GOP backers used federal dough to prop up their mortgage houses and banks.
Right now, there is a move to increase a liability ceiling for companies that create environmental disasters. Oh great! The government will hold business accountable for their actions. No protections for the free market, right?
Is the GOP leading the charge on this? No. They are fighting tooth-and-nail against it.
Apparently, they DO want government protection for business. And literally, when dumb business moves land on our shores, they want the American taxpayer to pay for it.
It is nice to see that there is a face behind the Cub’s ownership these days. I wish Mr. Ricketts all the best with his team. After all those years of Tribune ownership, it felt more like a business than a labor of love from the top. Let’s hope that changes for the long term.
Now, if we can just get to playing above .500 ball, I’d be REALLY happy.
