The Detroit Free Press the Hutaree militia’s website and gives some analysis.
Yet another review for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Like I’ve said before, it was a pretty good read. Implausible, but the author has been very clear on that from the get-go. Just the fact that he weaved a tale that could just almost be believable was a damn good piece of work.
Actually, read the comments. The amount of work by people try to either excuse away these Christian terrorists is obscene. Face it, these nitwits are self-described Christian militiamen and -women. The media isn’t hyping this up: the group itself wants to initiate “Armageddon”.
It isn’t hyperbole, it is reporting the story.
Yes, some Christians are nice, decent people. Probably the majority. And some are racist bastards. And others are “family values” politicians who wash each others feet, cheat on their wives, try to sleep with young boys, and watch lesbian bondage shows on their donor’s dime. And others want to kill a bunch of cops and start a holy war within our borders.
Republicans say they have a big tent. Sadly, most of them are circus clowns, hypocrites and terrorists.
Some good advice on confronting folks saying racist stuff, whether they mean to or not. Basically, try to take the high road and be smart about it.

I gotta be honest. The art-imitating-life-passing-as-real-due-to-the-internet thing may have hit a high point with the Shrute Farm B&B listing. This is pretty funny actually.
This is cringe worthy as a thought but hilarious to read.
Some I found funny:
“God will tell President Palin to invade Canada in order to save Canadians from universal health care insurance.”
“Holding true to the tenants of the TEA Party movement, Sarah Palin vows to repeal the nation’s many unearned and undeserved entitlement programs, starting with the Bill of Rights.”
“Sarah Palin is serious about limiting the size of government, and plans to do her part by quitting halfway through her first term.”
“Palin will not allow ‘government death panels’; instead, she will force poor people to die without the intervention of the state.”
Bonus entry:
“Sarah Palin will sign an Executive Order changing the official name of the Presidency of Barack Obama to the “Socialist Hope-y Change-y” era, infuriating Texas state school board officials, who will then be forced to approve history books which admit that Obama was ever actually in fact President.”
Onward Christian (bigoted, racist, anti-American) Soldiers!

Many sources on this, but Talking Points Memo has got a good lead on this.
So far, nine “Christian” militia members have been charged with sedition. More on their activites, including videos advocating armed revolt.
NPR is covering the story, complete with pro-militia commenters. You know, “violence = free speech” and other insane conservative BS. (Want any proof NPR has been taken over by the lunatic right? Read this crap.)
Juan Cole does a more rational job in covering the dangers of this round in the militia movement.
Rachel Maddow has some info on this and continues on the blog with other related stories.
Here is the local Detroit News article, with some tongue-in-cheek followup concerning the group’s name.
And, since this is probably the tip of the iceberg, more on how this is just the beginning of a trend of hatred by so-called Christians.
All that Tea Bagger talk about how it’s supposedly unconstitutional to mandate that people get health insurance? Yeah, um, tell that to the original “socialist” President, John Adams, who made all sailors – even the private company employed ones – sign onto the plan.
Seeing as he had some say into the original framing of the Constitution, I think he had a better sense of what is or is not constitutional than your average racist southerner. Right?
