“Killing Machine”

One of the oddities of the online world is that Brandon Bird’s painting, as seen above, spawned a meme that Bea Arthur is humanity’s greatest weapon against the dreaded velociraptor threat. Obviously, yes, there are no velociraptors anymore (but don’t tell these guys). That said, since Bea Arthur passed away yesterday, should you feel any less safe than the day before?

They could be among us now, plotting behind the scenes and waiting to undermine us from within. I mean, we just had Evil Muppet Dick Cheney turn America into a Torture State. Stranger things HAVE happened.

We already have a Nazi Pope. Don’t be surprised if you have to take Communion from this guy soon.

Bea, you will be missed.

Texas ups order for flu drugs as doctors say not to panic

Traitor Rick has to be incredibly flexible today. First, after screaming about government spending and how he rejects stimulus money while whispering secession, he now wants the Feds to cough up flu meds for his state’s citizens.

Hold on there jackass. That Tamiflu was bought with FEDERAL tax dollars. You know, the same money you don’t want on principle. I, in general, don’t wish harm on Texas residents, but practice what you preach, ya know?

Oh, never mind. Turns out Traitor Rick has NO problem whatsoever in drumming up $2.7 million in campaign contributions from folks in DC. It technically isn’t the same thing, but at the same time it is.

Will any of this come up during his treasonous “state’s rights” forum? Probably not.

The Tortured Logic of the Torture Superfans

Bob starts this entry on torture loving idiots. And truly, how degenerate are you that you can call yourself a Christian AND lust after torturing people at the same time?

Over at Political Irony, some more deep thought has been put into confronting this issue. Arianna Huffington frames it as it should be considered, as a “What does this say about America?” question.

Meanwhile, even FAUXNews talking heads like Shepard Smith question his network’s stance, not to mention the GOP’s, on cheerleading torture. To be fair, Smith is the only employee over there who doesn’t drink all of Murdoch’s Kool-aid, but still a bold move for him, if genuine:

Cliff May is an idiot who thankfully doesn’t get on my TV often, but his angle is that we HAVE to torture Muslims because their religion forbids them from talking to us. Dolt.

It doesn’t matter that the only reason we tortured was apparently to get some detainees to admit to a non-existant link between al-Qaeda and Saddam. It doesn’t matter that according to the FBI, torture did NOT foil ANY terrorist plots.

Indeed, say it with me: Torture NEVER Works. Not for the Spanish Inquisition, the Nazis, the KGB, a pack of Neanderthal hunters. Not the Bush-era CIA or roving bands of West Virginia National Guardsmen and -women. It. Does. Not. Produce. Viable. Intelligence.

Ever.

More from Rachel Maddow interviewing Ron Suskind.

An FBI interrogator says Bush and Company lies about any intelligence gains from torture.

And Bill O’Reilly proves to be more of an inhuman beast the more he speaks on the issue.

(Well, video got pulled but you could probably imagine the sick glee.)

To get the taste of THAT out of your mouth, we close with Jon Stewart’s take from earlier this week.

(This video, too, has been scrubbed. There were actually an additional three vids of him interviewing Cliff May, which are also gone.)
