I'm about to bitch out NPR but before I do I wanted to link a few interesting job stories I've bookmarked from them for awhile now.
The first is a story covering one of China's last bowmakers, a skill - admittedly - is not so required in the 21st century. That said, he could probably make a killing with the Ren faire crowd here in the US. Plus, it has major cool factor.
Another similar story about a job becoming obsolete in this day and age covers a tailor's apprentice and why he went into his line of work.
This last story is kind of heartening for me. We hear a lot about the new economy and that jobs it may create for us. Jobs that are fun and interesting. Well, here's one for ya. Meet the Chief Beer Officer for Sheraton Hotels. Yeah, seriously, this guy gets paid to evaluate beer.
