We are probably gonna lose our governor this fall.
That is great news for the rest of the country if so. And so are the trendlines from other states letting Democrats fighting back and taking the lead.

The flag of pride

It is loooooooooong past time to reclaim what is ours. Not the Nazis or Confederates or Klukker bastards.
Our’s. Not to wear on our dirty ass cheeks, but to wave in honor of what it took to overcome the forces of those who wanted to put out our light. Both foreign AND domestic.
OPINION: An outbreak of happiness threatens to end Trumpism in America
Come on, get happy. You owe it to yourself, and your country.
A Fake Conspiracy Theorist’s Second Act
Some background on the “birds aren’t real” guy. Thankfully, it is just an act.
José Andrés: Let People Eat
Guy lost seven of his crew and in this moment still has more decency than Netanyahu and his goon squad will ever have in their entire lives.
What to know after Israeli strike kills World Central Kitchen workers in Gaza
It shouldn’t take the deaths of some aid workers to stop what is going on in Gaza, but that’s kind of where I guess we might be at.
The difference between folks who have a terrorist group hiding in their midst, and some foreigners on the ground trying to feed them, is that the aid group has José Andrés, who some world leaders actually listen to.
Once again, it shouldn’t matter, but it does. Hopefully he can lean in hard and get done what months of diplomats have not been able to.
Yes, Israel needs their people back, and to get the killers and kidnappers who started this. But wholesale attacks on anyone in a geographic area ain’t gonna get it done. Everyone knows that. This is just brutality for brutality’s sake.

Still an entertaining story, but thankfully it was not – yet – a historical document.
Small business owners say they’re pressured to hire off-duty MPD cops for security
I mean, I know you are as surprised as I am, but it turns out the Minneapolis PD is shaking down business owners for protection money.
The dark side of touch-screen tipping
Maybe I am getting old, but the concept of everybody but me getting tipped is starting to be really irritating.
I especially enjoy the automated tip option that *starts* at 20% and goes up from there. As I am sure you do as well.
Shootings spotlight ‘alarming’ jump in violence against rural Minnesota officers
So, this story ran today and kept getting referred back to all day.
Thing is, it pisses me off.
Sure, no one should be shot while on the job. That’s a given. And no, the story does not gloss over the fact that there is no trend, just a statistical anomaly for the year. It stinks, it shouldn’t be happening.
All said, you know what else shouldn’t be said? An executive director for a sheriff’s association is quoted in the story that basically this is all Black Lives Matters fault.
No, really.
In a story about police being shot in rural communities, he wants to blame the folks living in the big city.
They can’t hide it. Ever.
The whole of the story is that we have a subset of the population in rural communities that think it is fine to pop a cop these days. But the police won’t blame the folks in the Oaf Keepers with them. Or the Klan. Or their white supremacist church. Nah, go blame the Other. As usual.
