This has been a very cool series on the changing face of work, and the resistance by industry at large to adapt to the needs of the two-working-parent family. There are highlights by those who are enduring scheduling problems and those employers who are trying to make things work for everyone.

2012: The Year The World Will Not End – 13.7: Cosmos And Culture Blog : NPR
If you know some conspiracy theorist nutjobs – and, hey, don’t we all? – one of their big hangups is that the world is going to end in a couple years.
I believe this could happen myself. At least as long we keep letting these folks think their ideas have any merits. That way, the crazy multiplies until it and not any comet, aliens, sunburst or whatnot actually kills creation.
I also believe that the longer we keep letting Tea Baggers think they have a valid point of view, the closer this country comes to being a violent theocracy that re-institutes slavery but just for the “non-Christians”. That might be a conspiracy theory too but if you listen to those freaks, I think I’m not that far off.
Anyway, for the 2012 nuts, here’s some actual science and logic to counter their crazy. Odds are, though, that’s it’s too late for reasoning.
Supreme Court Justice’s Wife Embraces Tea Party : NPR
Clarence Thomas’ wife traffics with the Tea Bagging Traitors.
Sure, it isn’t apparently illegal, but it’s definitely unseemly, and in a honest world it would be unethical.
Liz Cheney Would Call John Adams a Terrorists’ Pal: Ann Woolner – Bloomberg.com
Liz Cheney is so batshit crazy that even Bloomberg News chose to call her out on her most recent bit of treason.
Everyone deserves their day in court; even people who don’t like us. Trying to shame and intimidate lawyers from defending is literally the definition of being anti-American.
Op-Ed Columnist – The Axis of the Obsessed and Deranged – NYTimes.com
Frank Rich on the dangers of ignoring the Tea Party Terrorist Fringe.
Bob Cesca: The Tea Party Is All About Race, Part 2
Bob stirs the hornet’s nest again, calling the Tea Bagging Racists, well, racist.
Urban Dictionary Presents New Challenge For Brand Marketers
I read this article and laughed so hard I almost peed myself.
You can add “teabagging” to this list as well.
Female WWII Pilots: The Original Fly Girls : NPR

Here’s another damn good story representative of what I’d like to see NPR doing. It’s the story of the WWII-era WASPs (Women Airforce Service Pilots) who served our nation and are just now getting the recognition they deserve.
I remember reading some on them as a kid but not so much in recent years. Great article on some great ladies. Give it a listen.
Justifiable Terrorism?
Look who’s palling around with terrorists? I continue to insist that modern day Republicans, particularly their Talibangelical Hate Wing, has more in common with al-Qaeda than with the rest of America.

Op-Ed Columnist – Dreaming the Possible Dream – NYTimes.com
“We came to America for the American dream — to do good and to make good.”
– K.R. Sridhar
We still have some ingenuity running around this country. And some of that we have thanks to immigrants. Here are two of the latter working hard to fix our energy problems.
Maybe if we listen to those who want to be Americans instead of damning them, we can make our nation great again.
