Since we were already talking about it...

Turns out reconstruction in the Gulf Coast has another hurdle: FEMA. After being asleep at the switch as Katrina unfolded, the agency is now withholding funds to local communities that paid for debris removal services.

To be more blunt, the government that did away with minimum wage laws to screw over local construction workers is complaining that communities paid too much when all that was left was either waiting for the Corps of Engineers - who were overwhelmed - or pay contractors either feeling the squeeze or just blatantly robbing folks.

To be even more blunt, why is a government who handed the keys to the Treasury to their corporate pals when rebuilding Iraq busting the asses of American citizens who are just trying to get their lives back together?
